Roadblocks ahead for HR 2267
Just as the poker community was waking up to bright sunshine, clear blue skies and hope on the horizon, the reality of the House Financial Services Committee’s yes vote to HR 2267 ran into another potential road block.
Next stop for the Internet Gambling Regulation, Consumer Protection, and Enforcement Act, is the United States House of Representatives where it will run into House Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi who is no fan of the legislation for what the Gambling 911 website sited as “moral grounds.”
The bill requires 218 votes in order to be passed on to the Senate. The Democrats have 254, and numerous Republicans have come out in support of the bill.
Regardless, poker players may have to wait a little longer to see what effect the House Leader will have on its safe passage into law.
