Federación Costarricense de Poker Deportivo (Costa Rican Sport Poker Federation)
The Costa Rican Sport Poker Federation (FECOPO) was established in San José, Costa Rica, on May 2009, by the following organizations: Asociación Deportiva Poker Hispano, Asociación de Poker Deportivo, Full House and the Orion Poker Team, and joined IFP on 2nd July 2009. FECOPO’s president, the Ing. Jeffry Valverde Fernández, is also involved with soccer and sport organizations in Costa Rica. FECOPO’s vice-president is the well known poker player Humberto “Shark” Brenes, member of the Team Pokerstars Pro and of IFP's Advisory Board.
FECOPO’s main goals are to promote poker as a skilled Mind Sport nationally and internationally in order to develop the great values involved in the playing of poker. In the second half of 2010, the first Costa Rican Poker Championship will be launched. FECOPO also hopes to send a team to participate in IFP sanctioned events.
