Austrian Poker Sport Association
The Austrian Pokersport Association (APSA) was founded in 2006 by two students of sports science, Martin Sturc (President) and Max Golda (Vice President) and was one of Europe’s first national poker federations. Its goal is to establish poker as a recognized sport in Austria and build up a structure which is comparable to other sports. APSA has more than 50 poker clubs throughout Austria and more than 1,500 individual club members.
The core of the non-profit organization is the national poker club league (“Poker Bundesliga”) with two divisions comprised of 36 teams.
The annual Austrian Poker Masters organized by APSA is the most prestigious tournament for poker club members and a good opportunity to gain points for the Austrian Poker Ranking which was set up to encourage competition and facilitate the selection of the National Poker Team for international competitions. APSA also runs regular student tournaments with more than 1,500 students currently listed on the APSA student poker rankings.
The Austrian Pokersport Association is looking forward to sending Austria's best poker players to international contests and to collaborate with other national federations.
