A former cosmetic surgeon, Michael Keiner began playing poker during medical training in California in 1993. In 1997 he won the European Championship in Pot-Limit 7-Card Stud at London's Victoria Casino, and became a regular on the international circuit.

After quitting his job in 2006, he won a WSOP bracelet in 7-Card Stud in 2007, followed by the UK Open in no-limit Hold'em in 2008.

"Until now, poker has been a big international mind sport without international representation,” he says. “I welcome the IFP as a solution to this problem."
